03/05/2010
New World Alliance ocean carriers will add a vessel to their Pacific Southwest string and will have direct service from Thailand to the West Coast, effective March 15.
The addition follows reports of mounting congestion and delays at Asia ports in the weeks before this month's Chinese New Year holidays and calls by shippers for more container ship capacity.
The alliance, comprising APL, Hyundai Merchant Marine and MOL, said the new eastbound, Asia-to-U.S. rotation will be Laem Chabang, Thailand; Cai Mep, Vietnam; Hong Kong; Yantian, China; Los Angeles; Oakland; Tokyo; Xiamen, China; Hong Kong; Da Chan Bay, China; and Laem Chabang.
